The CEC announced the number of those wishing to become the president of Belarus. Fourteen groups have applied for registration of nominating groups at the Central Election Commission.
The CEC registered three nominating groups.
One of the contenders for presidency did not get into the CEC building. The ‘parasite-candidate’ Yury Shulhan came to registration drunk. As the Minsk Maskousky Rayon Department of Internal Affairs told BelaPAN, protocol was drawn on Shulhan and head of his initiative group under Article 17.1 (disorderly conduct) and 17.3 (appearance in a public place while intoxicated).
Can Barsik who arrived at the CEC with his owner Vasil Syamashka failed to get registered either.
“He has been in politics since 2010. At the time, he signed a memorandum with the presidential candidate Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu. But since Mr Nyaklyayeu did not fulfil a single point of the agreement, the cat decided to go into politics to change something on his own,” joked Mr Syamashka, speaking about the political prospects of his furry friend.
